The First SpokeDaily Newsletter
Our favorite stories around voice and conversational technologies
Hello!
First, you may be wondering…how did I get here? More than likely you signed up for email updates from us during our days as Pylon. If you haven’t heard, we have changed our name to Spokestack. Besides changing the name, we also changed the company’s focus from brands to commercializing our mobile voice technology. In short, we want to enable every mobile app to have it’s on voice interface so when you open an app on your phone, the app can talk back to you. Watch our video for more context.
If you do not want to receive this newsletters, no hard feelings. Unsubscribe information below or email me at mike@spokestack.io for help or to complain.
Now…following is what you can expect from this email. A daily round up of interesting things we read or view around voice and conversational technologies. These are things we typically just share with each other in the Spokestack Slack. Now, we want to open up to the conversation to the broader voice community. Some items will be super timely. Others may be like yesterday’s bagels…a bit old but still good enough to consume. All of them will be things we are reading and talking about that day. We hope you’ll join in the conversation as well. Now for what you’ll see from now on…
Superbowl Ads for Alexa & Google
Amazon’s Super Bowl LIV Ad Makes Alexa the Center of Civilization - Voicebot.ai
Interesting juxtaposition between the brands here. Haven’t seen anything from Samsung’s Bixby yet. Kind of a surprise after the CES/Project Voice push.
Google keeps laying out their vision for Google Assistant..and it make sense
Google Assistant Is Playing A Key Role In Alphabet's 2020 Strategy: Here's How - Investor’s Business Daily
"People are coming to us for the everyday things," Rincon (Lilian Rincon, Senior Director of Product Management at Google) told IBD. "I would say we have focused less on coming up with the next 1 million features and are really thinking about those really important things that we have that are 100% great for our users."
I love the focus on the experience over the volume of apps available on the platform.
Another article confirming smart speakers make for great sleep aids
How Google Assistant changed my bedtime routine - Mashable
Every time I ask, “Have there been any breakout success stories on smart speakers?”, I typically hear about sleep aid or trivia skills. Turns out you can buy a Tesla if you built a sleep aid skill early. Somehow, I get the feeling that will be enough to win over a lot of investors though. Would love to hear any other revenue success stories out there.

THE VOICECAST #31 WITH A #PROJECTVOICE RECAP - MAARTEN & SAM
Maarten and Sam look back at Project Voice in Chattanooga last month. Great perspective on a lot of the more interesting presentations and interactions at the conference.
OK, that’s issue #1 out the door! Please send any feedback or suggestions our way at hello@spokestack.io as we want to build something that highlights are the great content and brilliant minds writing about voice and communication technology.
Thanks!
